Shelby Means was born in the bluegrass state of Kentucky, and raised on the windswept prairie of Wyoming. Shelby began singing and playing the upright bass with her brother Jacob on mandolin, and dad Warrie on banjo. From the plains of the front range to the international stages of Europe, China, & Israel, Shelby has performed with numerous bluegrass and folk artists. Shelby’s bass is named Buddha. Shelby has performed at festivals such as Bonaroo, Orlando Calling, and Rockygrass and opened for Willie Nelson, the Avett Brothers, the Del McCoury Band, and Dawes.
